A private member's club in the heart of Sharjah exclusively for expats.

Sharjah Wanderers came into existence in 1976
A group of expatriates living in Sharjah and working for construction companies Halcrow and Tarmac wanted to establish a rugby pitch.
During the construction of Sharjah Port and Sharjah Sewage Works, in 1976 a group of British engineers, were granted a parcel of land by the Ruler, Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi, to build a rugby pitch and other facilities. These engineers played for the Dubai Exiles Rugby Club but were living and working in Sharjah.
HH Sheikh Sultan was very obliging and gave a plot of land a long way out of town, which was ideal. It was a flat sabkah area for the pitch, overlooked by a high sand dune for the spectators. The downside was that it could only be reached by 4X4 vehicles. Now, with the subsequent growth of Sharjah, the club is located almost in the middle of the city.
With the help of Tarmac providing materials and equipment, and everyone helping out, a small clubhouse was built, and the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club was established. Over those early years, with the help of members and their employers, the facilities were expanded and improved. The now well-established club uses only its own financial resources and has created a vibrant, thriving club that is constantly improving its facilities.
